A pilot project on waste sorting is planned in Turkmenistan

The United Nations Development Program together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan are implementing the project "Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Development of Green Cities in Ashgabat and Avaza". The new initiative was reported by UNDP Turkmenistan.

Within the framework of the program it is planned to implement a pilot project on separate waste sorting on the territory of the hostel of TSU named after Makhtumkuli, as well as to develop a methodological manual based on the results of the project.

In the course of the project implementation, UNDP together with the Society for Nature Protection donated plastic containers and three-section garbage cans for waste sorting to the university. The action is financed by the Global Environment Facility.

The implementation of such actions is a priority in the policy of the President of Turkmenistan and supports the overall strategy of the SDGs.
