The representation of higher education institutions of Turkmenistan has significantly increased in the UI GreenMetric rating published this year, which assesses the environmental sustainability of universities. This is reported by the publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
Eight Turkmen universities were included in the 2023 ranking, which included 1,183 universities from 85 countries of the world. This is twice as many as last year.
The leader among them was Oguzkhan University of Engineering and Technology, which rose to 432nd place in the rating. Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov ranked 456th.
For the first time, five Turkmen universities were included in the UI GreenMetric: Myrat Garryev Medical University, Turkmen State Institute of Culture, Turkmen National Institute of Sports and Tourism, as well as Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction and Turkmen State Financial Institute.
Experts note that the noticeable growth in the number of Turkmen universities in the authoritative international rating of environmental sustainability indicates the increased attention in the country to environmental issues and the transition to a "green" economy.
