Turkmen expert Doctor of Law, Professor and Honorary Elder Murad Khaitov presented a new analytical article on the development of the Constitution of Turkmenistan on the page of Centralasia.news.
On May 18, 1992, Turkmenistan was one of the first countries of the Commonwealth to adopt its own Constitution. From that moment, a new state system began to take shape in the country, which is based on the revival of the original traditions and customs of the Turkmen people.
In the article, the expert said that during the existence of independent neutral Turkmenistan, modern laws and regulations have been adopted and strong foreign policy ties with many countries of the world have been established.
Over the years, the country's Basic Law has undergone positive changes with regard to guarantees in the recognition of human rights and freedoms. Since 1992, the Constitution has been amended nine times in accordance with international standards of the rule of law.
Doctor of Law noted that nowadays the Constitution plays not only an important legal, but also a social role in the country, regulating the institutions of social and state structure.
