Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov today held a video conference with Executive Vice President of Itochu Corporation Hiroyuki Tsubai to discuss the prospects of bilateral economic cooperation.
During the talks, the sides emphasized the importance of maintaining high-level and high-level contacts for the development of Turkmen-Japanese relations. Special attention was paid to the results of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's visit to Japan in April this year.
The participants of the meeting noted the significance of the April visit of the Turkmen delegation, which included bilateral talks at the highest level and a meeting with representatives of Japanese business circles. At that time, specific proposals of the Turkmen head of state on expanding trade and economic partnership between the countries were presented.
Meredov, who serves as chairman of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee on Economic Cooperation, and Tsubai, who heads the Japan-Turkmen Committee, discussed the active work of these bilateral structures as an important mechanism of interaction.
The participants of the videoconference focused on the fulfillment of previously reached agreements and implementation of new projects in the gas chemical and agricultural sectors. The parties emphasized the sustainable and long-term nature of economic partnership between Turkmenistan and Japan.
