The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan today hosted a Greek delegation for political consultations between the two countries.
The Turkmen side was represented at the talks by Deputy Foreign Minister Akhmet Gurbanov, while the Greek delegation was headed by Dimitrios Michalopoulos, Director of the Department for Russia, Ukraine, Caucasus, Black Sea and Central Asia of the Greek Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the sides had a constructive exchange of views on the bilateral agenda and analyzed the current level of political dialogue between the states. Particular attention was paid to the discussion of the implementation of previously reached agreements.
The participants of the consultations noted the effective interaction between Turkmenistan and Greece within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and the European Union. The parties confirmed their readiness to continue building up multilateral cooperation.
As a result of the talks, the sides agreed on close foreign policy coordination and mutual support at international platforms. It was also agreed to maintain regular working contacts between the countries.
The diplomats reviewed the issues of improving the legal framework of bilateral relations and emphasized the significant potential for partnership in the trade and economic sphere.
Special emphasis during the consultations was placed on the development of cultural and humanitarian interaction. The sides expressed interest in expanding cooperation in science, education, sports and tourism.
