Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov today held a meeting with the Regional Coordinator of the International Organization for Migration for Central Asia Serhan Aktoprak in the building of the Foreign Ministry.
The participants of the negotiations considered the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and IOM. Particular attention was paid to coordination of actions in emergency situations, on which the parties agreed to strengthen cooperation.
The meeting discussed the implementation of the Action Plan for the current year, including the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
The Turkmen side emphasized the country's active position in the political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict in the Middle East and the resolution of humanitarian issues. These activities are carried out in accordance with the principles of humanism and Turkmenistan's permanent positive neutrality.
The republic's actions demonstrate its commitment to ensuring orderly, safe and legal migration in accordance with its obligations under the Global Compact on Migration.
