Sites of Turkmenistan inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List

The 45th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee unanimously approved the nomination of "The Great Silk Road: Zarafshan-Karakum Passage" and "Turanian Deserts in the Temperate Belt", submitted with the active participation of Turkmenistan, to the World Heritage List.

As Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov informed at the enlarged session of the Cabinet today, the second nomination in the List also included desert ecosystems of the state reserves "Bereketli Karakum", "Kaplankyr", biosphere reserve "Repetek" and limited reserve "Yerazhi", reports information program Watan.

This is an international recognition of the uniqueness of Turkmenistan's natural and cultural heritage.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated the participants of the meeting and all the people of the country on this significant event.
