The OSCE Centre in Ashgabat organized a seminar on defamation standards

The OSCE Centre in Ashgabat organized a two-day seminar on "Implementation of international standards on defamation in national legislation". This was reported by the Internet publication Turkmenistan: Golden Age.

The seminar was held as part of a project to assist in the implementation of Turkmenistan's National Human Rights Action Program for 2021-2025 on freedom of the media and freedom of expression.

International experts A. Richter from Austria and M. Andguladze from Georgia shared international best practices in applying defamation standards.

Defamation is a generalized legal term that includes all types of violations of human rights to protection of honor and dignity. Defamation may include dissemination of information defaming a person's honor and reputation, dishonesty at work, violation of business ethics, etc.
