Turkmenistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva V. Hajiyev met with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk in Geneva on February 6. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen side expressed its commitment to maintaining close contacts with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. A special role is given to the activities of the OHCHR Regional Office for Central Asia in Bishkek.
The High Commissioner noted that the Central Asian region is one of the priority regions in the context of cooperation in the field of human rights. At the conclusion of the talks, the parties agreed to continue expanding and deepening bilateral cooperation in the field of human rights between Turkmenistan and the UN OHCHR.
