President of Turkmenistan In the course of his speech at the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State reiterated our state's initiative to develop the Areas of implementation of the potential of interaction between the participating powers. Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov noted that despite the unfavorable global situation in the world, the Commonwealth has carried out most of the planned meetings at various levels, at which they discussed strategic vectors of cooperation in different business segments. The head of Turkmenistan positively assessed the choice of such priorities for economic cooperation as Fuel and energy complex, trade, transport, communications, technology, innovation.
Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov focused on the possibility of developing the CIS space to the level of the main routes of continental economic cooperation, a connecting bridge for Europe and Asia. It was proposed to promote the economic interests of member countries outside the Commonwealth by developing joint projects with neighboring states and regions. This is especially relevant to the issues of improving transport and transit corridors, fuel delivery, and the expansion of communications and communication networks. The leader of the Turkmen nation emphasized Caspian Sea regionwhere it would be expedient to create a complex of combined logistics. The President presented the possibilities of the Turkmenbashi International Sea Port and the national merchant fleet for consideration.
Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov noted that in the dire situation of the COVID-19 pandemic The CIS countries have managed to to promptly establish cooperation of a medical, sanitary, and customs natureThe first time, we have demonstrated a responsible attitude and mutual support in the process of confronting the global threat.
The head of Turkmenistan noted the need for closer coordination of activities of the CIS states on the international platform, including partnership in the format of world institutions.
The Turkmen leader informed the leaders of the CIS states that Ashgabat will hold a forum in 2021 on the problems of strengthening peace and security and the implementation of sustainable development. The president invited his colleagues to attend the conference.
Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov expressed gratitude to Uzbekistan for its productive chairmanship of the CIS in 2020 and wished success to Belarus, which holds the chairmanship in 2021, as well as wished a Happy New Year and health and success to the CIS nations, peace, prosperity and well-being.
