The President of Turkmenistan participated in the Central Asia-Russia Summit

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the second summit "Central Asia - Russia" and the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State. This is reported by the news agency "Westiabad.".

The Central Asia-Russia Forum strengthens the strategic partnership between the countries of the region and the Russian Federation, covering politics, economy, energy, transportation, science and education. Turkmenistan actively participates in this format based on the principles of permanent neutrality recognized by the UN. The first summit was held in 2022 in Astana and confirmed the effectiveness of the regional dialog.

Upon arrival in Dushanbe, Serdar Berdimuhamedov was met by Tajik officials. The head of state took part in the summit meeting chaired by Emomali Rakhmon, which was also attended by the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Russia.

In his speech, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized the systemic nature of Central Asia's dialog with Russia based on historical, cultural and economic ties. The head of state noted the importance of joint work to ensure stability, security and coordination of actions in international organizations, including the UN.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed to intensify cooperation in economy, transport and energy, with a focus on the development of the North-South corridor along the Caspian coast and expansion of cooperation in electricity and renewable energy.

The President also emphasized the importance of innovation and environmental agenda, including the preservation of the Caspian and Aral seas, development of technologies, "smart" cities and agriculture. Special attention was paid to humanitarian and educational contacts that contribute to building trust between the peoples of the region.

At the end of the meeting Emomali Rahmon thanked Serdar Berdimuhamedov for his informative speech and supported the proposed initiatives.
