A seminar on neutrality of land degradation organized by UNDP jointly with GIZ was held in Turkmenistan. This was reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
The workshop is a part of the project "Conservation and sustainable management of land resources and ecosystems of high natural value in the Aral Sea basin for multiple benefits" and is held to increase the capacity to achieve neutral balance of land degradation.
The workshop addressed the restoration and improvement of land and water quality in the Amu Darya basin.
The neutral balance of land degradation allows forming a balanced approach to land and water resources use and preventing new degradation. The concept of NBDZ was first introduced in the framework of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification.
