Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed a press conference on the results of his official visit to Malaysia

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov spoke at a press conference on the results of his official visit to Malaysia, TDH reports.

In his speech, Serdar Berdimuhamedov on behalf of the delegation of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim for the invitation and provided conditions for joint work.

The President of Turkmenistan thanked the representatives of Malaysia for organizing the talks at the highest level and noted that the very constructive talks dictated by the interests of friendly nations allowed to define the prospects of economic development, as well as to discuss issues of regional and international policy.

The Turkmen leader noted that the positions of Turkmenistan and Malaysia on topical issues on the international agenda coincide or are close to each other. Both countries are based on the principles of peacefulness, equality and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, advocating the strengthening of security and stability in the global and regional dimensions.

Turkmenistan and Malaysia are firm supporters of building a fair and balanced system of international relations on the basis of taking into account the interests of all States and strengthening the positions of developing countries in world politics. The meetings and negotiations that have taken place have confirmed the commitment of both sides to these goals.

In his speech, Serdar Berdimuhamedov highly appreciated the equal and mutually beneficial relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia within the framework of major international structures, primarily the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

According to the President of Turkmenistan, the talks covered a wide range of cooperation, in particular, in establishing and expanding trade and economic ties to implement projects in such areas as energy, transport and communications, construction, oil and gas processing, chemical industry, high technology, innovative urban development, tourism and others.

In the area of economic cooperation, Turkmenistan expresses its interest in intensifying cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

- During the talks, we noted the accumulated positive experience of bilateral relations and available opportunities for increasing investments. The activities of the Malaysian state oil and gas company "Petronas Carigali", which has been successfully operating in our country for many years, serve as an example of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation, the President of Turkmenistan said.

As Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties is also one of the key directions. During the talks, an agreement was reached to hold joint events aimed at maintaining cultural and humanitarian dialog between the friendly nations and expanding bilateral relations in this area.

Summing up his speech, the Turkmen head of state highly appreciated the results of the visit to Malaysia and noted that the agreements reached and important documents adopted will allow to significantly deepen bilateral relations and realize the huge potential of cooperation in trade-economic, cultural, humanitarian and other areas.
