Today's meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government discussed cooperation in trade, transport and industrial spheres, as well as interaction in the fight against COVID-19. The event was held via video link in a narrow and wide format.
Turkmen Foreign Minister, speaking at the forum, stated the need to concentrate joint efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19. He emphasized the importance of developing coordinated mechanisms in this direction, particularly with regard to the implementation of sanitary-quarantine measures at the borders of countries. In addition, the head of the Turkmen delegation stressed the importance of the exchange of scientific information during the pandemic.
At the meeting the parties reviewed the draft CIS Economic Development Strategy until 2030. The key areas of this document correspond to the Ashgabat Declaration on Strategic Economic Cooperation of the CIS member states.
Also approved were draft agreements on combating COVID-19, cooperation in transportation (through 2023) and sports (2021-2030), and a plan to celebrate the Year of Architecture and Urban Planning in 2021.
