UNDP held a regional youth forum with Turkmenistan

More than 20 young people from Turkmenistan and other Central Asian countries gathered for an online forum on "Youth, Peace and Security in Central Asia," which was organized by UNDP. The meeting was also attended by high-ranking guests, including: J. Nikolova (UNV and UNRCCA, Turkmenistan), Z. Lukhmanova (Youth Development Expert, Uzbekistan), K. Abdulganiev (UN, Tajikistan).

Dialogue among youth opinion leaders was made possible by the Japanese government's funding of a special UNDP project aimed at strengthening local communities and interaction among Central Asian countries to prevent violent extremism.

Such meetings give young people the opportunity to share their views, broaden their understanding of intercultural communication and partnership, and consider areas of development in the region based on democratic values.

In Turkmenistan, the project is being implemented in the cities of Ashgabat, Mary, Turkmenabat, Turkmenbashi, Tedzhen, and Dashoguz with the support of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Turkmenistan and the Magtymguly Youth Organization.
