The President of Turkmenistan and the Special Representative of the President of the United States had a telephone conversation.

On May 29, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and U.S. Presidential Special Representative for Climate Change John Kerry had a telephone conversation, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.

The topic of the discussion was environmental issues that are topical on the international agenda today. In particular, the measures proposed by Turkmenistan to combat the effects of climate change and negative anthropogenic factors associated with active industrial development were considered.

On Turkmenistan's initiative, a Regional Climate Technology Center for Central Asia is planned to be established in Ashgabat with the support of the United Nations to minimize the impact of climate change.

At the end of the conversation the sides noted the necessity of further development of relations between the countries in this sphere.
