Turkmen representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Cotton Research Institute of Turkey exchanged experiences in cotton cultivation and harvest mechanization. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) acted as a facilitator.
The sub-regional coordinator for Central Asia reported that the cooperation was initiated by Turkmenistan. The mutually beneficial partnership with Turkish specialists has improved soil fertility and increased the efficiency of automatic harvesting in both countries.
Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the FAO has been developing since the country became an official member of the UN. Over the past few years, FAO support has covered a wide range of areas - agriculture, environmental protection, food security in Turkmenistan.
FAO plans to open its country office in Ashgabat. At the moment, the company's sub-regional office in Central Asia is located in Ankara.
