Turkmenistan and Mongolia sign 14 cooperation agreements following Berdimuhamedov's state visit

President Serdar Berdymukhamedov: Our main task is to improve the living standards of the people

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has concluded his state visit to Mongolia by signing a large-scale package of documents on bilateral cooperation. Following talks with Mongolian leader Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh in Ulaanbaatar on June 2, the parties signed a Joint Statement and 14 agreements.

The signed documents cover a wide range of areas of cooperation - from foreign policy and trade and economic relations to cooperation in science, education, culture and healthcare. Special attention is paid to the development of investment partnership and light industry.

An important symbolic step was the signing of the Memorandum on the establishment of twinning relations between the capitals of the two countries - Ashgabat and Ulaanbaatar.

During the visit, the Turkmen leader extended invitations to Mongolia to participate in two major international events: the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries to be held in Avaza in August and the International Forum on December 12 in Ashgabat dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality.

The business program of the visit included a Turkmen-Mongolian business forum, where the priority areas of economic partnership were identified: investments, transport and logistics, communications, textile industry and agriculture. The cultural component of the visit was represented by exhibitions of arts and crafts and Turkmen carpets, as well as a joint concert of artists from the two countries.

Meanwhile, significant domestic events took place in Turkmenistan. On June 3, in honor of World Bicycle Day, a mass bicycle race with the participation of the head of state took place in Ashgabat. The route ran from the Health Path to the square near the Rukhyet Palace and was attended by members of the government, diplomats, students and athletes.

At the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on June 4, economic results of five months of the current year were summarized. The country's GDP indicator amounted to 6.3%, which indicates stable development of the national economy.
