Turkmenistan has joined the CITES Convention

On July 13, the Mejlis of Turkmenistan approved a bill on Turkmenistan's accession to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). This is reported by the Internet edition "Westiabad."

Turkmenistan has become a full member of the CITES Convention, which provides for compliance with its provisions. Members of the Convention are obliged to obtain a permit for the sale of regulated species, work to counter illegal trade, and carry out activities to raise awareness of the importance of wildlife conservation.

Turkmenistan's accession to the CITES Convention testifies to the country's commitment to the principles of preserving the rich nature of Turkmenistan, careful treatment of it and rational use of natural resources.
