Turkmen delegation to the OSCE reported the results of the People's Council meeting

During the regular OSCE meeting, the Turkmen delegation made a statement on the results of the meeting of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, which was held on September 25, 2020 under the chairmanship of Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.

The member states of the Organization were informed about a number of decisions made by the People's Council. Thus, the meeting approved the key areas of implementation of existing programs and outlined the main objectives of socio-economic development of the country for 2021. However, the key ones were the constitutional reforms that were enshrined in a special document signed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. According to this law, a number of amendments and additions were made to the Constitution of the country.

In connection with the reform of the main law of the state, the National Assembly of Turkmenistan will consist of two chambers - the Mejlis and the People's Council. The constitutional act signed by the President clearly delimits the powers of the new entities and defines the algorithm of their formation and work.

The participants of the Permanent Council were briefed on the priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign policy. It was emphasized that the state would continue to develop and deepen cooperation with the CIS, OSCE, UN, EU and other international organizations, as well as relations with all countries of the world. The country's priorities are in line with the initiatives it has put forward in the field of energy, transport and water diplomacy, as well as on environmental issues.
