Turkmenistan medics were trained in early childhood development

Turkmen healthcare professionals had an opportunity to learn from global experience in early childhood development. A series of training seminars for specialists was organized by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, as well as Ankara University and UNICEF.

The seminars were held for Turkmenistan's health workers as part of a continuing professional development program for family doctors and nurses.

The program was launched in 2015. Since then, more than 1,400 medical professionals have been trained to monitor child development. An early childhood development office has been opened in every velayat of Turkmenistan.

One of the priority goals of early development specialists is to identify physical or mental factors early in a child's development that may interfere with further normal development and mastery of the school curriculum. Identification of such features of the child will create the conditions for overcoming them.
