Saparguly Makhtumov from Turkmenistan received the GALA-2025 Global Ambassador Leadership Award for his outstanding contribution to the development of the international Technovation Girls program. He became the first male Ambassador to receive this prestigious award.
The award ceremony was held online and brought together young ambassadors from 117 countries participating in the program. The 2025 Award winners were four ambassadors from Turkmenistan, Spain, Nigeria and Kyrgyzstan who demonstrated exceptional achievements in leadership, teamwork and program advocacy.
According to Megan Black, program coordinator from Technovation's headquarters in California, Saparguly worked extensively with a team of ambassadors in Turkmenistan and the Central Asian region. He provided technical support to the teams and coordinated the work of the Ambassadors throughout the country.
The international Technovation Girls program has been running in Turkmenistan for four years. It aims to develop social entrepreneurship and promote opportunities for young girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields.
As part of the program, participants work in teams to create mobile applications to solve social problems. The finalist teams gather at the World Summit in California to present their projects to leaders from Google, Meta and Amazon.
