Ashgabat, July 25 - Arzuw.news. The State Library of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan hosted the grand opening of the U.S.-Turkmen book fair, which presented a wide range of literature on education, culture and English language learning. The event was held on July 24 in celebration of the International Year of Peace and Trust and U.S. Independence Day. Visitors to the fair had the opportunity not only to familiarize themselves with the presented publications, but also to receive books as gifts for correct answers to intellectual questions, as well as to practice English and test their knowledge of the heritage of American society.
Acting Director of the State Library Lachin Nurmuhammedova made a speech at the opening ceremony. She spoke about the important role of the library in spiritual and moral education of youth and development of cooperation with foreign partners.
U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan Elizabeth Rood noted the special significance of the event, emphasizing the role of reading in the development of thinking and education of future leaders. The diplomat expressed gratitude to the State Library and the Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan for their assistance in organizing the fair.
During the event, the library received a batch of unique books in English with translations into Turkmen, which creates additional convenience for young people learning a foreign language.
