Today, in the capital's residence of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Turkmenistan will be held a reception in honor of the centennial of the national holiday of Turkey - Victory Day (Turkish Zafer Bayramı).

Ambassador Togan Oral and Military Attaché Colonel Mehmet Yıldız were the official hosts of the event.

Victory Day, also known as Turkish Armed Forces Day (Turkey. Türk Silahlı Kuvvetleri Günü), is a public holiday in Turkey commemorating the decisive victory at the Battle of Dumlupynar on August 30, 1922. It is also celebrated in Northern Cyprus.

The holiday commemorates the decisive victory at the Battle of Dumlupınar, the last battle of the Greco-Turkish War, on August 30, 1922. After this battle, the Greek presence in Anatolia ceased. Victory Day has been celebrated as an official holiday since 1926, and was first celebrated on August 30, 1923.
