Celebrations to mark Pushkin's birthday took place in the capital of Turkmenistan

On June 6, Ashgabat and the regions celebrated the 222nd anniversary of the great Russian poet, as well as Russian Language Day.

Employees of the Russian Embassy held a ceremony of laying flowers to the bust of Alexander Pushkin, located in the center of Ashgabat for more than 100 years. The Russian Embassy's Department of Education, Science and Culture hosted a mono-performance "Let's Read Pushkin", where guests enjoyed poems by the Russian classics.

A real gift for the holiday was the new play "My Friends, Our Union is Beautiful!", presented by the creative team of the State Russian Drama Theater named after Alexander Pushkin.

The Russian language is mandatory in all Turkmen schools. In addition, there is a Turkmen-Russian school named after A.S. Pushkin in the country.
