Turkmenistan will have a new National Rural Program

Turkmenistan will have a new National Rural Program for the period until 2027, whose activities will be aimed at improving social and living conditions in the country's settlements. The task to develop it was given by President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov during an expanded government meeting held in within the framework of the extraordinary meeting of the Khalk Maslakhaty.

Speaking about the new Rural Program, the Turkmen leader emphasized that in order to implement it, the maximum inflow of investments should be ensured. As the President noted, the Regional Development Strategy is one of the key components of ensuring stable progress of any state. It focuses on such fundamental aspects as demography, living standards and their quality, employment of the population, and natural resources of the territories and their reproduction.

In this regard, the head of state gave specific instructions to the heads of the agro-industrial complex (AIC) of Turkmenistan:

- continue to increase the output of food, diversify its assortment. Considering the global economic situation, improve intra-market supplies, and organize activities aimed at ensuring food prosperity;

- increase the efficiency of the agricultural sector, ensure the development of such areas as poultry farming, meat and dairy production and food products, as well as a number of other areas of the agro-industrial complex;

- to carry out all required steps, to provide a favorable environment for building the production capacity of agro-industrial enterprises producing industrial food, meat, dairy and livestock products;

- Organize activities aimed at the targeted and effective use of pastures and arable areas of agricultural land. We will implement a set of necessary measures to increase crop yields, develop the seed industry, complete the formation of a land cadastre, and develop methodologies for the cultivation of various crops, based on positive global practices;

  • to attract private investors in the agro-industrial sector, to methodically introduce progressive scientific experience into the production sphere;
  • expand the area used to grow vegetables;
  • organize activities aimed at the development of the livestock industry, expand the area devoted to the cultivation of fodder crops;
  • to develop new water reservoirs, increase their volume, actively introduce into production practice relevant water-saving technologies used in the organization of crop irrigation, to use the world's best practices.
