UNICEF emergency preparedness program completed in Turkmenistan

A UNICEF program on emergency preparedness and disaster risk reduction was held in Turkmenistan from 10 to 19 July. This is reported by the Internet publication "Türkmenistan habarlar portaly".

The set of activities was organized by UNICEF together with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the National Red Crescent Society within the framework of the Regional Programme "Strengthening Local and National Capacity for Emergency Preparedness and Response in CA Countries at High Risk of Earthquakes and Natural Disasters".

The activities were attended by 165 participants. The program addressed the basic principles of disaster risk reduction, a multi-sectoral child-friendly approach, climate change adaptation and other relevant issues.

In addition, children and adolescents developed family emergency action plans, with a special focus on people with disabilities. The work was carried out with the help of simulation exercises.
