Leningrad siege survivor met with Turkmen schoolchildren in Ashgabat

Galina Mamedova, a resident of besieged Leningrad, held a meeting with Turkmen schoolchildren at the Russian House in Ashgabat on February 3. This is reported by the TASS news agency.

The event is timed to the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade. In parallel, the tablet exhibition of the Victory Museum "Salute over the Neva" was organized. Galina Mamedova shared her memories and her mother's stories about that time. During the blockade, the resident of Leningrad was in infancy and only from her mother's stories she remembers how she survived the cold, hunger and shelling.

The woman told the schoolchildren about the blockade, about a 125-gram ration of bread. A metronome was demonstrated, the silence of which meant the beginning of a new bombardment. The children especially remembered the sounds of the alarm siren and the recording of Yuri Levitan's message about breaking the blockade.
