Turkmenistan farmers are actively harvesting melons

Melon grown in the Tedzhen etrap of the Akhal province has started to be supplied to the Turkmen and foreign markets. This is reported in the Internet publication "Türkmenistan habarlar portaly".

This year more than three thousand hectares of land were allocated for melons. This year turned out to be very productive for local farmers. To date, more than 11 thousand tons of harvest have been collected. Part of it will be used to supply the domestic market, while another part will be exported to CIS countries, including Russia.

The most common among Turkmen farmers is the variety "Vakharman", called sugar melon. As noted by farmer Rustem Merdanov, the melon variety "Red Injir" breaks records in terms of size, and "Vakharman" - in terms of taste.

More than 400 out of 1600 varieties of melons in the world are Turkmen. It is not by chance that melon is a kind of business card of Turkmenistan.
