On Friday, February 3, in Ashgabat a meeting was held between representatives of "Hazar balyk" OJSC and leading specialists in the field of marine fish research from Belgium. The discussion centered on the development of the project on breeding artemia salina - small crustaceans, which are widely used as live food for fish. This was reported by the company's general director, S. Atayev, in an interview he gave to the Business Turkmenistan online publication.
This project is intended to solve the problem of providing nutritious food for fish by breeding Artemia salina and using cyst eggs in the nutritional ration of sturgeon. Artemia salina is widely used in fish farms as a fodder crop with high nutritional properties. A pilot project to breed this crop is planned to be launched by 2024.
At Friday's talks, the parties discussed various indicators of the Caspian Sea and climatic conditions in terms of opportunities for artemia breeding.
