Consultations on the planning of the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan were held

Consultations on the multi-year strategic planning of the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan in partnership with the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APF), the United Nations Development Program and the Regional Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Central Asia (OHCHR) were held from October 16 to 20. This is reported in the joint Press Release of APF, UNDP and OHCHR.

The purpose of the event was to identify priorities and opportunities for the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan over the next five-year period. As part of the consultations, experts Jill Crisp and Ahmed Shahid traveled to Ashgabat to meet with the Ombudsman and staff of the Office to develop strategic priorities, outcomes, activities and indicators. The final draft of the Multi-Year Strategic Plan will be submitted for approval by the end of November this year.
