Turkmenistan ready to intensify cooperation with the EU - results of the meeting in Luxembourg

Today, October 23, 2023, the 19th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the European Union and Central Asia was held in Luxembourg. It was attended by representatives of all 27 EU countries and 5 Central Asian states, including Turkmenistan. This is reported by AMI Trend.

According to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrel, the EU attaches great importance to the development of relations with the countries of the region.

The meeting discussed further cooperation in the areas of transportation, green energy, trade and investment. Special attention was paid to the implementation of projects under the Global Gateway initiative on digitalization of economies and combating climate change in the region.

The delegation of Turkmenistan actively participated in the discussion of these issues, emphasizing the country's interest in expanding cooperation with the EU. Turkmenistan is ready to offer its transit opportunities and energy potential for the implementation of joint projects under the Global Gateway Initiative.

In addition, the meeting discussed the priorities of the upcoming first EU-Central Asia Summit in 2024. Turkmenistan expressed its readiness to participate in this event. The delegation of Turkmenistan also accepted the invitation to participate in the Investors' Forum on Sustainable Transport to be held in January 2024.

In general, the 19th EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting demonstrated the interest of both sides in further deepening cooperation. Turkmenistan is ready to contribute to this strategically important partnership.
