Presidents of Turkmenistan and Korea discuss cooperation

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung during which they discussed the prospects of bilateral partnership and implemented joint projects. Arzuw.news reports with reference to Turkmenistan: Golden Age.

The Turkmen leader congratulated his Korean counterpart on his election to the presidential post and wished him success in his state activity. In turn, Lee Jae Myung conveyed greetings to the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, noting his significant contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries.

The conversation focused on trade and economic partnership with the leading Korean companies Hyundai, Daewoo and LG. The countries actively cooperate within the framework of the "Central Asia-Republic of Korea" format in the areas of energy, transportation, ecology, health care and culture.

Among the implemented major projects, a gas chemical complex in Balkan province worth over USD 3.4 billion, capable of producing 386 thousand tons of polyethylene and 81 thousand tons of polypropylene, stands out. Also, a plant for gas purification from sulfur in the field "Galkynyş" with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters per year was built for 1.484 billion U.S. dollars.

In the structure of Turkmenabat Chemical Plant named after S.A.Niyazov, a complex worth $682 million has been created to produce 350 thousand tons of superphosphate and 100 thousand tons of ammonium sulfate.

Humanitarian cooperation is also developing: Korean language is studied in Turkmen universities, mutual Days of Culture and thematic events are regularly organized.

President Berdimuhamedov informed the interlocutor that the year 2025 was declared by the UN as the "International Year of Peace and Trust" at the initiative of Turkmenistan. He invited the Korean leader to participate in an international forum to be held on December 12 in Ashgabat to mark the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality.
