On June 12, an international conference on peace, sustainable development and migration was held in the capital of Turkmenistan. The event brought together representatives of state migration agencies of the five Central Asian republics.
Delegations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan participated in the conference in a hybrid format. Experts and representatives of international organizations from Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia and Turkey also joined the discussion.
Turkmenistan initiated the event within the framework of the UN Resolution on the International Year of Peace and Trust. The conference became a platform for discussing the protection of migrants' rights and environmental sustainability through the prism of the principles of peace and mutual respect.
The program included five thematic sessions. The participants considered modern methods of personal identification and combating document falsification, the impact of climate change on migration processes, and the problems of statelessness.
Special attention was paid to the digitalization of the migration sphere. Experts discussed the prospects of using electronic visas, digital migration cards and artificial intelligence technologies to regulate migration flows.
The final session was dedicated to strengthening regional cooperation and exchange of best practices among Central Asian countries in the field of migration policy.
