A regular meeting of the National Commission for UNESCO was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on Monday. The meeting was attended by deputy deputies of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country, as well as senior staff of specialized institutions. This is reported on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
In his opening speech, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov noted that the meeting will summarize the results of Turkmenistan's work with UNESCO over the past year and identify priority topical tasks and promising areas for further cooperation.
At the meeting, information was heard about the inclusion in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the original Turkmen traditions of silk production and silk breeding, as well as the ancient art of Turkmen embroidery. Also, "Akhalteke horse breeding and traditions of horse decoration" was nominated for inclusion in this UNESCO list in 2023.
