On April 23, a sports and cultural event - horse marathon in honor of the National Day of the Turkmen Horse was held in the foothills of Kopetdag in Akhal province. This was reported by the Internet publication "Vestiabad".
The participants of the competition were 20 riders, who had to overcome a distance of 60 kilometers over rough terrain. The marathon was held in two stages, dividing the distance into sections of 30 kilometers with an intermediate finish.
The marathon is aimed at demonstrating horsemanship and endurance of horses, as well as at preserving and developing equestrian sport in Turkmenistan. The event is designed to inspire people to achieve new goals and further advancement in the field of equestrian sport.
The winner of the marathon was a horse named Meshkhur from the Akhalteke equestrian complex of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
