President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived June 17 on a working visit to Kazakhstan to participate in the second Central Asia-China Summit, which is taking place in Astana.
The plane of the Turkmen head of state landed at Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport. At Astana airport, the President was met by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, other officials and members of the Turkmen delegation.
Before leaving Ashgabat, the head of state was seen off at the airport by the country's officials.
Turkmenistan's participation in the summit reflects the course for the development of relations with China, which occupies an important place in the country's foreign policy strategy. This strategy was laid down by National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and is being implemented under the leadership of the current president.
The summit will discuss strengthening regional cooperation, expanding political dialog and deepening trade and economic ties. Also on the agenda are the development of transport and transit integration, energy, innovation and sustainable development.
