President Berdimuhamedov proposes to create a platform for meetings of CA and GCC foreign ministers

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed to establish a meeting of foreign ministers of Central Asian countries and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). This meeting will become a permanent mechanism to counter global challenges and threats.

This proposal of the President was made at the Jeddah Summit held today July 19, 2023. The summit was attended by leaders of Central Asian countries and the GCC. This is reported by the State Information Agency of Turkmenistan.

In his address to the summit, President Berdimuhamedov said the meeting of foreign ministers would be an important step toward strengthening cooperation between the two regions. He said the meeting would provide a forum to discuss and coordinate the countries' efforts on a range of issues, including security, trade and investment.

President Berdimuhamedov also noted that the meeting will provide an opportunity to address challenges related to terrorism and extremism. He noted that the countries of Central Asia and the GCC face a common threat from these forces and that it is necessary to work together to combat them.

The proposal to establish a meeting of foreign ministers was welcomed by the leaders of the other participating countries at the Jeddah summit. They agreed that such a meeting would be a valuable tool to promote cooperation and coordination between the two regions.
