President Berdimuhamedov launches wheat harvest in Akhal province

Working visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Akhal province

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a working trip to Ak Bugday district of Akhal province, where he personally launched the harvesting campaign in the Makhtumkuli Dayhan Association. The head of state cut a sheaf of ripe ears of wheat at the request of a tenant-farmer and blessed the beginning of harvest.

According to the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, wheat reaping is being carried out at an accelerated pace in all five velayats of the country. Last week, harvesting works started in Akhal, Lebap and Mary regions, today Balkan and Dashoguz velayats joined them.

This season, modern combine harvesters from the world's leading manufacturers John Deere and Claas are actively used for grain harvesting, which operate in a round-the-clock mode. The machinery is equipped with modern telematic equipment and adapted to local soil and climatic conditions.

The peculiarity of the current harvest was the use of new high-yielding wheat varieties "Arkadag", "Serdar" and "Pyragy". These varieties are characterized by higher yields, large grain and reduced need for irrigation.

During the visit, the President familiarized himself with the exhibition of agricultural products, including vegetables, melons, fruits, various varieties of cereals, as well as bakery products made from the grain of the current harvest. The head of state highly appreciated the quality of the presented products.

The President gave the Deputy Prime Minister specific instructions to ensure high quality of harvesting operations and timely delivery of the harvest. Particular attention was paid to the need to make payments to farmers in a timely manner and to introduce innovative methods in agriculture.

Akhal province has traditionally been considered one of the most fertile regions of Turkmenistan in terms of wheat production, where systematic work is being carried out to develop farming on a scientific basis.
