President of Turkmenistan meets with UNESCO representative

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with representative of the UNESCO Cluster Office in Tehran Golda El Khoury. This is reported on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The occasion for Golda El Khoury's visit to Turkmenistan was the presentation of certificates to the President of the country on the occasion of the addition to the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The list includes "The Turkmen Art of Embroidery", "Silkweaving and Traditional Production of Silk for Weaving" and "Traditions of Retelling the Parable of Molla Ependi".

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's membership in UNESCO. During the conversation, the parties emphasized the success and efficiency of the work done during this time aimed at preserving and protecting cultural and historical heritage.

The interlocutors discussed the progress of work on the inclusion of Ashgabat in the UNESCO List of Creative Cities and a number of other topical issues.
