Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrives in Saudi Arabia to strengthen interregional cooperation

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov is on a working visit to Saudi Arabia to participate in the summit of heads of state of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Central Asian countries opening today in Jeddah. This is reported by the state news agency of Turkmenistan - TDH.

The high-level summit aims to further expand cooperation between the Gulf monarchies and the Central Asian republics in political, trade and economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Upon his arrival in Jeddah, President Berdimuhamedov was welcomed by Saudi officials in a warm atmosphere that emphasized the close traditional ties and mutual desire to strengthen the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The agenda of the summit will be devoted to resolving topical issues of cooperation between the two regions and identifying new areas of interaction. Trade, energy, transportation and communication development projects are expected to be the main topics of discussion.

The Turkmen leader's visit underscores the traditionally friendly relations between Ashgabat and Riyadh, cemented by spiritual ties and traditions such as the Hajj pilgrimage. Turkmenistan also maintains constructive ties with other GCC countries and its Central Asian partners based on the principles of mutual respect, trust and mutually beneficial partnership for sustainable development.

President Berdimuhamedov's active diplomacy is in line with the priority of Turkmenistan's foreign policy - the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation to ensure security, peace and prosperity in the region and beyond.
