On Thursday, March 23, 2023, CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev met with Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. This is reported on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The Chairman expressed gratitude to the Secretary General for accepting the proposal of the CIS Observer Mission to participate in the monitoring of the current election campaign, which will end with the elections to the Mejlis and representative bodies of the country on March 26.
Sergei Lebedev, who heads the Mission, stressed the high organizational level of preparations for the upcoming important event in the life of the country. He noted that the elections were being held in a constructive atmosphere of openness in full compliance with national legislation and international norms.
