A webinar on migration issues was held with the participation of representatives of UNHCR

On July 21, representatives of the State Migration Service, the Supreme Court, the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, relevant ministries, and the State Statistics Committee met online with Ms. Yasuko Oda, UNHCR Regional Representative for Central Asia.

The webinar was devoted to the international practice of determining the status of a stateless person. During the discussion, participants shared their successful experiences in dealing with migration issues.

Every year Turkmenistan expands cooperation with international organizations, including in the sphere of migration. In particular, our country is a permanent member of the Executive Committee of UNHCR and a member of the International Organization for Migration. In addition, Turkmenistan participates in the key conventions and protocols on this issue.

Participants of the webinar emphasized Turkmenistan's positive experience in implementing international humanitarian law. For example, hundreds of people receive Turkmen citizenship every year.
