Customs officers of Turkmenistan have been trained under the EU program on detection of contraband

A three-day training for Turkmenistan's customs and border guard officials was held in Ashgabat last week. The training was organized by the Border Management Assistance Program in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) funded by the European Union. This was reported on the official social network page of the EU Delegation in Turkmenistan.

The purpose of the training was to teach instructors how to inspect cars and trucks to detect contraband. Experts from the Customs Department of the State Revenue Service of Latvia conducted the training, focusing on effective inspection techniques and detection of contraband.

Representatives of the State Customs Service and the State Border Guard Service of Turkmenistan participated in the training. For three days, they studied advanced methods of inspecting vehicles and identifying secret compartments where prohibited goods could be hidden.

The BOMCA 10 program aims to strengthen border security capacity in Central Asia. By training customs and border guards to detect contraband, organizers hope to curb smuggling and illegal trade in the region.
