Turkmenistan and the UN held a high-level meeting on sustainable development in New York

On July 18, Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Serdar Jorayev met with UN Under-Secretary-General, UNDP Regional Director for Europe and CIS Ivana Zivkovic in New York. The meeting took place within the framework of the visit of Turkmenistan's delegation to the UN to present the second Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This is reported by the Orient portal.

According to the information provided, Turkmenistan has integrated 85% SDG goals into its national development programs, which allows coordinated efforts to achieve the SDGs in all sectors of the economy. Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN continues to expand every year in areas such as health, digitalization and green economy initiatives.

Currently, Turkmenistan together with the UN is starting preparations for the development of the next Cooperation Framework Program for 2026-2030. The country's economic policy focuses on reforms, innovation, transportation, logistics and financial instruments for the development of new industries. Social sector development, including health care and digitalization, is a priority.

As part of the smart city project, sustainable construction and environmental protection measures are being implemented in Arkadag. Minister Jorayev invited the UNDP Regional Director to visit Arkadag city and participate in the celebration of Turkmenistan's Independence Day on September 27.

According to the information provided, Turkmenistan is ready to actively cooperate with UNDP on the global agenda, especially in the area of promoting economic and social development.
