The President of Turkmenistan congratulated the participants of the scientific-practical conference on the Caspian Sea Day, annually celebrated on August 12 at a high level, and the beginning of the scientific-practical conference "Caspian Sea: Partnership for Sustainable Development", TDH reports.

The congratulatory message of the head of state notes that Turkmenistan is taking large-scale programmatic steps to turn the Caspian Sea into a zone of peace, trust and ecological well-being.

The first Caspian Summit held in Ashgabat in 2002 at the initiative of Turkmenistan played an exceptional role in the subsequent development of a number of multilateral documents on the Caspian Sea, in particular, the Framework Convention on the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea, the congratulatory message said.

The "Caspian Environmental Initiative" proposed by Turkmenistan will provide an opportunity for substantive and professional interaction on a wide range of issues in the Caspian region. Its implementation will allow consolidating efforts to maintain environmental well-being and significantly coordinate targeted measures in the future, the congratulatory message emphasizes.
