On Friday, the mass harvesting of the grown wheat crop started. Farmers of Mary, Lebap and Akhal velayats are already in full swing of harvesting work. Farmers from two other regions of Turkmenistan will start harvesting a little later - on June 10.
This year, in accordance with the plans, farmers aim to harvest 1.4 million tons of grain. The largest-scale harvesting works are taking place in the Akhal region, where large planted areas are given for wheat, followed by the Mary and Lebap regions. The smallest areas for winter wheat planting are in the Balkan region.
In total, farmers of the country will have to harvest 690 thousand hectares of land.
