Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan discuss prospects for further cooperation

Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan have discussed issues of further cooperation - for this purpose First Deputy Prime Minister R. Sklyar arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit. On February 12, 2022 he met with Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Bardymukhamedov.

The sides had a productive dialogue, during which they discussed an extensive list of issues of Turkmen-Kazakh interaction. The participants noted that regular meetings between the leaders of the two countries contribute greatly to strengthening and developing friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

Also, First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan R.Sklyar met with Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan S.Berdymukhamedov. The participants of the dialogue addressed key issues of bilateral cooperation in politics, economy, trade, culture, etc.

During the fruitful discussion, the sides discussed opportunities to expand partnership involving the potential of the two states. In particular, the agro-industrial, trade and economic, transport and transit and environmental areas aroused mutual interest.

Particular attention was paid to the development of partnerships in the fields of industry and the fuel and energy complex. The meeting participants also touched upon the prospects for increasing the volume of global and regional transportation. The parties expressed their intention to use road, rail and sea transport of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan for cargo and passenger transportation.

The talks continued at meetings between Sklyar and Deputy Prime Minister Abdrakhmanov, heads of relevant ministries and departments, as well as with the leadership of Mary velayat.

The sides noted the positive dynamics of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, both in bilateral and multilateral formats. Also, the parties stressed the relevance of further improvement of the contractual and legal framework of interstate partnership, including through the organization of meetings of specialized bodies of the two countries.
