Turkmenistan joins the North-South transport corridor to develop regional ties

Turkmenistan officially joined the North-South International Transport Corridor Agreement, originally signed in 2000 by Russia, India and Iran. The aim of the project is to facilitate the transportation of goods from India, Iran and the Persian Gulf countries through Russia to Europe. This is reported by the portal Salam news.

The eastern branch of the corridor passes through Turkmenistan, following the new Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railroad. Turkmenistan's participation will help optimize freight transport and unlock the potential of the corridor. New agreements between logistics companies were signed to develop transportation along this route.

In recent years, Turkmenistan has invested heavily in modernizing its transport and logistics infrastructure. In 2022, there was a significant growth in freight and passenger transportation. JSC "Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan" (TLCT) is expanding international partnerships and representative offices abroad to further develop Turkmenistan's transit capabilities. TLCT continues to increase the volume of cargo transit through the country from abroad. TLCT welcomes new partners interested in cooperation on transportation projects.
