New York, July 7 - Arzuw.news. A delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Myahri Byashimova took part in the UN High-Level Meeting on Regional Peace Zones at the United Nations headquarters. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The event was aimed at developing existing and creating new regional zones of peace, expanding cooperation between them and strengthening friendly relations between states.
During the meeting, Myahri Byashimova reaffirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to the principles of neutrality, peacefulness and good-neighborliness as the basis of the country's foreign policy. The Turkmen side emphasized the unwavering position on the creation and strengthening of regional peace zones, especially the zone of peace, trust and cooperation in Central Asia.
Representatives of Turkmenistan noted the importance of the adoption by consensus of the UN General Assembly Resolution "Zone of Peace, Trust and Cooperation in Central Asia". The meeting participants recognized the peace zones as instruments of sustainability, platforms for diplomacy and an expression of regional responsibility for peace processes.
On the same day, Myahri Byashimova met with UN Under-Secretary-General Rabab Fatima. During the talks, they discussed organizational issues related to preparations for the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.
The Parties emphasized the high importance of this conference in the context of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
